I need help. My unlce went to the Street Rod Nationals in the 70's in St. Paul MN. As far as I can tell either 74, 77, or 79 (i am guessing 77 and 79, but i am not positive). He had a car that he took. It was a Chevy coupe done up gasser style. It has a full tilt front end, huge back tires and a solid wooden dash that he carved out. At that time it was either bright yellow or a dark color with the words Mind Blown on the side. his car was in the NSRA magazine street sceen two times. he mag did a feature/story on cars with full tilt front ends and his car was included. He has misplaced any copies he had of the magazine over the years. I would like to find a copy for him. If anyone know what issue of the magazine to look for or maybe you took some pictures of his car at the show. I would just really appricate any information, leads or advice you can give me. Also the the late 70's or early 80's he sold the car to someone in Spring Hill, KS. I would love to find out if the car is around anywhere. If you have any information please let me know. Thank you for your time.
DONE. and i have not contacted hot rod directly. I read on their website that they lost most of the information in a flood. I posted on their boards there. no results. i am going to send them a direct email to see if i get any better results.
So the magazine was not hot rod mag like i thought. it was the magazine produced by the NSRA. I have placed a call and they can look to see if they still have the mags i need but they need a month to go with the year. anybody else have any good ideas...
well i would love to give you the year. i belive it to be a 40 or 41. but i will have to ask a friend of his if he remembers. I am trying to find this for my uncle on the sly.
1940!!!! the coupe is a 1940!!!! Does anyone know the dates that the NSRA show happend in St Paul MN in 1974, 77, 79?
well i have not a positive answer. but it seems like the show was in july or august. which would mean the mags i am looking for would be between september and december. I wouldnt think they would push the coverage past that...this also means that i am now down to 12 possible issues for my uncle! Thanks everyone for your help. If you happen to find any new information please let me know.
I now have pics of the car. this is what it would have looked like in the mags. when the car was sold he had repainted it bright yellow.
Ebay has numerous Street Scene magazines for sale, including the one featuring the 77 Nationals... just search Street Scene magazine... you could buy a bunch, or send a message to each that is offering them, asking for specifics on each issue they are offering...
