I bought this mess today to put in my 34 ford pickup project. It is an open drive trans but I think the shift tower is a 39. It looks like the 327 will wait for another project. My plans are to put this in the original 34 frame with an open truck rear 46-8 vintage.

Anyone know exactly what the trans is?

numbers are right for a 1937/1938/1939 case with a '38/'39 double detent shift tower with 3" forks...that's a good tranny, except for the water damage.

I hope it will clean up. I also dropped the trans by accident and knocked a bolt hole piece off.

I'm confused by the middle section where it bulges out. That doesn't look like any '39 Ford style I've seen, and the tranny top looks like it hangs off both ends. It should mount flush over the opening using the six bolt holes. Maybe modified or some sort of truck??? Better photos of that section would help. The numbers look good for '39 style passenger....

  5. Deffo looks like a truck box to me.

The one I have open is not the one on the engine.
