Hey Squirrel, what's the average cruising speed and rpm's on those long trips ?
I think when we were travelling together we were running 60-65 easy.
The car likes 68-70 mph, with the OD on thats just under 2500 rpm. But when I'm traveling with someone else, I'll go their speed (unless it's too fast for me).
The cruising speed also relates to the handling of the car...it's a handful at 70, but more than a handful going faster than that.
I saw Squirrel at Goodguys show saturday. Great guy to talk to & see plan 11 in person after folowing the build here. The car is so cool!
Good to meet you!
Yeah, I was at the big show, it was interesting. Not many altered wheelbase street/strip cars there
I even brought a lawn chair! it's not quite period correct, but it's as close as I can find right now.
All you need now is a cry baby to lean on the front tire and some fake food to put on a window tray. Other wise looks like you have the car show thing down. Is this what we have to look forward to after we retire from drag week?
Yup. Anyways....found some possible leads on a block for you talking to folks there...
I don't take the show stuff to seriously, it's fun to talk with folks. There are quite a few interesting folks at car some car shows.
Long as we don't see any fuzzy dice any time soon.
Any local Hamber's stop by? Chip "Louvers" ? Multi-car Mike?
A few did....it's always a pleasure to meet folks who've been following my adventures!
Most of the local car show cruise-in types down here take their cars out of their air conditioned garages.
Drive them to the show and get them safely back home before dark and never use them for anything else. Not my style, if you got it drive it or race it or both.
Yea southcross2631, The W30 Cutlass and Superbird in my avatar arrived in enclosed trailers, ran long enough to park `em. Then the dusters came out!
the guy behind me was using a leaf blower to get the dust off his!
You guys have leaves in AZ?
Yup. Do you guys have any rocks or sand in MI?
With thousands of miles of beaches, I bet we have more sand than AZ...well, maybe not.
Keep in mind that most of the folks in Phx moved there from up north, and brought their trees with them...hence our water shortage, keeping the darn things fed!
Thinking a shade tree would be nice in the heat of the summer.
its a dry heat.
Notice the Ezee -Up in Jim's pic. Still need them in November!
I'm going out to mow the grass one last time. But, mostly I will be mulching leaves.
^^Same here. One last go-round before the white stuff. Me & the missus was just this morning talking about how beautiful Sedona is....
So is the sun.
The heat is dry in my garage! Here in center of CT I will be doing leaves into December, ARGH!! The wind always blows the leaves into my yard and never out!..
Anyways...I'm planning to have the car at an indoor car show over the upcoming long weekend, it should be yet another interesting adventure. We'll see how it goes.
Jim those indoor shows are a real treat lmao I had my digger at one this last weekend I had plenty of entertainment from bill bierman and his crew the only saving grace was the cackle fest on sun afternoon
Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
this one is not even a "real" car show...I expect there will be only a handful of older cars there.
