Congrats Jim, That is really an accomplishment to start with a pile of old parts and end with something that is consistently fast and reliable....and safe.
In general is the super charged engine that more responsive to good air, than normally aspirated? That is still quite an improvement!

they both seem to respond about the same. Air has to get into the blower before the blower can compress it, so air density matters. If you are using a turbo or centrifugal blower with a blow off valve or wastegate, and you limit boost pressure that way, it might not make so much difference.

    Thanks!

thanks! sorry for the lack of updates during the race...it was kind of hectic....not much "down time" with the laptop.

Anyways, the car worked, I got to race a few of the guys. The Meltdown Drags is a really neat deal, you should go if you can. They work really hard to make it a fun time for everyone, and they sure succeed!

There are some pics on the Meltdown 2015 threads. Here are all my time slips. I also ran Friday morning, but something glitched and I didn't get a time.

I took my wife on the trip, she survived....I think she might have even had some fun. I know I did.

It was nice meeting you, Jim. Thanks again for the advice on trailer hitches, tires, etc. It's so cool that you were towing with a 56 Chevy Suburban. Sorry, that I didn't have a torque wrench with me. LOL.

Are you planning on next year's Meltdown, yet?

It was definitely a fun weekend! Lots of great folks, neat cars, and racing action. And a nicer bunch of "officials" just doesn't exist

Sorry - looking at the time slips, The 5th one, I confused you (#32) with the #38 car. Can't even blame the eyes, bifocals in place!

Back to work on the car...actually, I've been doing a lot with it, I just forgot to post here.

Today's issue is the valve cover gaskets, which have been leaking. The passenger side seeped out some oil on my Drag Week adventure. I replaced the gaskets, and drove around town some, and it's leaking even worse now. It looks to me like the heads are just made wrong, there is not enough meat above the bolt holes on the bottom row. The oil is leaking around the bolts. I could try some other gaskets, or maybe some other valve covers, or possibly I could build up the gasket surface on the heads, using good old JB weld.

Jim. Try a set of these. I have had good luck with them.

Is the oil leaking around the bolt threads? You may try some Teflon pipe sealant. I had to use this to stop oil leaking around intake bolt threads on my 350 engine.
