My brother is a truckdriver who lives in nearby Neosho, and when in town practically lives at The Great Wall! It's ok, but I like the BBQ at Jimbobs. It's the shit!!
Here's a couple I missed before: BBQ/Southern: Big R's Located on 15th between Main and Rangeline. The portions are huge here. BBQ: Lumpy's On 2nd/Broadway between St. Louis and Main. Good BBQ. Burgers: Gooch Bros. On 20th east of Rangeline at Duquesene Road. Never been here, but a buddy of mine swears by it.
The Holiday Inn has a full buffet breakfast prepared with fresh ingredients and a real chef not someone in a hotel lobby pouring boiling water on a powdery substance and calling it scrambled eggs. Not here. It's fresh fruit, cheesy eggs and ham, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, all kind of danishes and several other choices and as always, all you can eat! The breakfast buffet costs our guests only 11.95 per person. What? What's that you say? Ryan Cochran bought everyone breakfast for each morning of their stay in the Host Hotel? Well, it's true. Wake up Sunshine and eat to your hearts content...It's on Ryan and the folks at Jalopy Journal! What? What's that you say...Billy's in a well?
Dear god let that sausage be better than the one I ate a few years ago. The Cafe at the host hotel (now LaQuinta) served up some real questionable grub and I ended up doing a 100 yard dash to the can with my knees tied together! At least I got to sleep through Dallas!
You just might propose after this...Every night of your stay at the Host Hotel from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM we have a Manager's Reception. It is a FREE full bar and hot appetizer buffet. No Popov or Dark Eyes here just the best for our guests! You can relax in our Atrium lobby, watch our Koi and reflect on the peace that you feel within or you can go crazy with the sauce and end up pukin in our fountain "Freebird! AHHHHH! If I stay here...shut up this is my song! I'm tellin ya Bob Marley wrote it Jerk! You don't know me! Blegh. Let's go get the mini bikes!"
suffice to say my "fine dining" experiences in Joplin have been less than awesome.nothing makes Your day like the nice lady at the pancake place insulting You after Ryan stole Your meal the night before.
HA! Highlights of the trip for us last year. I forgot about Uncle Pancake Head - we will definitely hit that before leaving town. up in flames in Webb City is good pizza but a little pricey. it is behind subway and next to May's Drug. If you like (American/Vietnamese) chinese food there is lotus garden on west 7th street. Drive around a little. The town is set on a grid and if you keep turning right you will eventually find your way back where you belong.
The breakfast at the host hotel last year was excellent. Pizza by Stout was really good also. I am looking forward to trying some others this year.
There is a new Mexican restaurant open in the Sam's Club parking lot just across the street from the host hotel. I have not tried it. John
The Vagabond's will be doing Brats in the parking lot Friday night. It's a tradition. We'll be using Ryno's grill this year...
