Art & Inspiration Pinstriping,a traditional art form

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Sep 26, 2017.

  1. I have always been a huge fan of nice Pinstriping and even tried my hand at it - I failed miserably,it seems you need some artistic talent, dedication to the craft and a steady hand to lay down eye popping lines.

Let's see whats on your car,be it hot rod or custom. HRP

Its the whole same on both sides, looking like you unfolded a page that blows me away.
Mad props to the guys who can do that.
I bought a Beugler (?) pin striper in 1985. Its still in the box, I even know where it is.
Retirement, boredom might get it fooled with.

Hotrodprimer I think I have posted these up before. These are some parts sitting in my dining room waiting for me to get the mechanical part of my 31 roadster finished. My garage is so small if I stored them in the shop they would get damaged in no time. My wife takes pity on me and lets me keep them there until I'm ready for them.

Thanks HRP! Had a guy local to me here in the Wilmington NC area do it. His company is called Rare Air Werx. He does flames, striping, graphics, custom paint work. His name is Eirik Motz. Good guy too!

As a young Marine back in 1970 I was changing duty stations from Camp Pendleton to Panama City Florida after having just returned from Viet Nam. I was driving my old Model A there. As I drove through Hesperia, Ca I stopped to get a burger. Right across the street from the burger joint there was a local car show going on. I pulled over there and parked on the street and was going to have a quick walk thru. Right where I parked there was a guy air brushing tee shirts ( remember that from back in the day?) As I get out of the car this air brush guy comes over to take a look at my Model A , As we stand there and shoot the shit he tells me that my car needs a few lines of stripping on it. I informed him that I was a dead broke Marine and was just hoping I had enough money to make it to Florida, and Pin Stripping was just not in the books for me.

I walked away and went and looked at the car show for a hour or so. When I got back the Air brush guy was gone, and to my amazement my little A Bone was sporting a lot of stripping on the inside of it. I have always wondered who that cat was, and was sorry I never got to thank him. Model A 013 (Medium).jpg Model A 016 (Medium).jpg

Once watched "Tommy the Greek" showing off on a 49 chev. Started at the front pulling a long line towards the rear, stopped about halfway then started again at the rear going to the front. The lines met perfectly.
