Yeah Franko it's me. Still own it. Took the sbford out and installed a 50 Cad with all the good stuff. Can't decide on an exhaust yet. Not really happy with what you see in the center shot. Open for suggestions. Love your latest clone. Right on. I think that is the version that Ivo copied. Me and Deathtrap had a chance to visit Ivo recently. He signed my dash as Norm and Kookie have. He had some great stories about him and norm.

thanx for sharing the pix of my dad's track roadster that we restored in the 80's. Dad raced this car with the CRA (calif roadster assoc aka calif racing assoc) 48-55. After restoration, he displayed and ran with the WRA (western racing assoc) until health problems forced him to stop racing. But talk about a sense of humor, after losing his eye he had a prosthetic eye made with cross checkered flags painted where the iris should be.

That's the one. It's true that Grabowski's was first, and is rowdier looking (especially when it had the blower), but I don't think anybody ever built a better looking "fad T" than Ivo's.

I don't know, is there any formal guidelines for a "T" bucket? I think that most of the bucket type hotrods are pretty cool to ride in. Maybe they have been done to oblivion so we have taken the style for granted. But hey a man with his wheels no matter how beautiful or rustic has beauty in his heart waiting to be transfered to his wheels, so who are we to judge.

 

Heres one from down under that's been around for a while.The owner drives it everywhere and sometimes tows a trailer with it as well. Keep on roddin'

 

cover off the very first Rod mag I ever actually paid for( as opposed to grabbing 'returns' from the newsagents rubbish tin) .

I just got a very cool ride in this for the first time since I did work on the car and man does it ride smooth. Thanks for the ride Franco.

 

In progress. Just dropped the motor & tranny. Still not sure about the body.

 

The best era (as short as it was) was the week or so between the Grabowski, Ivo, etc. generation and the late 60's on up. I'm talking about 1 color candy paint, 5 spoke mags, maybe 12 spokes up front, Hals in the back, SBCs, Olds rears, white headers, small sikkle headlights....

 

Word of advice from a "old" T-bucket'r, get rid of those front wheels & rims!For your own safety.Try & get some better ones.Those are too flimsy looking, trust me.PLEASE!

Here's the one I'm building. Traditional track style body & stance with "altered style" tubular frame and 4-cyl 4-speed.

 

Those are an old set (8yrs) of 18" Hallcrafts that I got a great deal on. A deal so good, I figured I would try them out. They were taken apart, powder coated black (cost of replating too high) and trued when reassembled. I have researched how they drive with people who use them and have heard both sides of how they run on the street. If I try them and don't feel safe, I will switch to a more conventional, but thin, set of wheels.
