Event Coverage Pictures of New England HRR

So today wife and I went to day 1. I have taken her last two years on Friday, pushing her wheelchair as her knee doesn't let her walk long distances. Then I go back the rest of the weekend by myself.
Jack Merkle is one of the museum honorees this year.

Just a few of the cars, Friday is a light day especially early. Was disappointed in flea market, maybe six vendors by noon. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

 

Glenn has had this all steel Willys for 35 years!

 

Ron SanGiovanni has put together a display of land speed cars. Here are a couple and I expect to see more tomorrow.

 

Tons of FEDs and other neat race cars. Many were still in the trailers when I was there today so tomorrow lots of pics.

I was there all day until 6:30 pm. A good turnout of race cars and i think some cars did not come out of there trailers, some rigs came in later in the day. Not many spectators but still a Friday work day for many except us old retirees. Could use more vendors for sure and show cars tomorrow and Sunday. The Rock nee coupe really caught my eye with stude power and Avanti blower. I will be back for tomorrow. Beware the large porta potty near the big gate to the right of the main ticket shack. It has hornets and they sting while doing your businesses. I told one of the track workers by the that gate they should spray in there. Sympathetic but I watched him after for a while well waiting to get my ticket and he never got on the radio to anyone. By the way the main ticket office does not open until 9 AM which is BS while pit gate is open at 8.
But I had a great day just the same.

 

Saturday the show and shine was far more populated. No huge spectator crowds that I could see. Beautiful weather.
This is my favorite race car of the day, Potvin blown naihead comp car!

 

Jack Merkel's '33 showed up today, displayed with his later Willys.

 

Hilton should be there with their new fuel dragster, see if you can get a pic of it.
