There's not much more bad ass than 1960's Oswego style super modifieds. Jimmy Shampine comes to mind. Those guys got really creative with chassis design and drivetrains.
That is an 32 Ford Roadster Quarters,28 Cowl, gas tank located in drivers Door! We are working on tires for restoration of this bad boy. Original owner/driver is 85 years young. Car was raced out of Oswego and was one of the first built in the "Oswego Style" with offset motor I will post more pic's as they come in.... And I hear one will be with checkered flags a flying.
Very cool car. It looks like it's channeled about a foot or so. Love the expression with the flames rolling off the engine! I assume he made it out ok and the car wasn't hurt too bad. I am thinking some new screen background images.
I'll never be half the man he is; head sticking out the "partial" roll cage and a turboed hemi damn near in his lap, sheeesh!
What Kind of engine was ran in the 32 car, does anybody know, I can't get a very good look with these pics?
I've often wondered how a guy like this gets his legs and BALLS in the same pair of pants. Gotta be better than Viagra. Frank
I watched jimmy Shampine race many times around upstate New York. Here is a link to a great site featuring jimmy's rides over the years. http://www.retrorockets.org/feature_jshampine/feature_jshampine.htm
