Hello I'm wondering if some one can help, I'm looking for photos of olds 303 324 371 engine in a original model A frame a rolling chassis pic would be great. I have looked at olds threads but only found 3 photos and they were more of the car not really the engine in the frame of the car Thanks -303racer-
Thought I had a pic for you...but looks like it's a Caddy. Interesting anyhow, fit would be about the same with an Olds I think: http://www.hotrod.com/whereitbegan/hrdp_0803w_1960_hot_rod_covers/index.html click on the July cover!
Their is a guy on ebay selling motor mounts for your ride. I have a set on my car andand I am happy with their work
"Standard" way would have been Hurst A-28 frame mounts plust Hurst Olds engine mount, followed either by normal A-V8 components or later model Cad/Olds/hydro whatever. I love that cover shot...almost a how-to article in one picture!
They are copies of C-T conversion mounts, which were being produced at the same time as Hurst mounts in the '50s, so they would have the right look if that's a concern.
I guess maybe just how it lists them seem like they are MADE for just certain swaps,,though I could be misreading it.
Yeah, I think that's the case. Hurst listed the engine mounts, and then listed the different frame mounts. Also, Hurst's nailhead mounts were drilled for both early and late block patterns, instead of making two different mount kits. I have C-T mounts for Olds and '53-'56 Buick, but they don't seem anywhere near as prevalent as the Hurst mounts; they must not have been made in as high a volume. Also, Hurst continued to make most of their mount kits well into the '70s and even '80s, whereas C-T was out of business long before that.
