I don't know where to put this (no,no not there) so I'm asking here. That 56 Chevy that is pictured on the top of the HAMB home page has a 57 Chevy bumper and grille bar. Is this a correct assessment? Is there a complete picture of the front of that car? Was this a common custom treatment back in the day? I kind, sorta heard or seen this but every time I go on to HAMB there it is and I look at it and think it's so cool andnicely done.

Hey 19, (always wanted to say that...)

After 14 clicks back and forth on the HAMB home page and then the Jalopy Journal tab, after the picture changed each time, I found this:
    upload_2018-6-24_8-23-2.png
If it is a 56 Chevy, it has a 57 bullet style bumper, but, look at the vertical grille bar. That looks like a custom, 53 Chevy grille molded into the chrome bumper.

Back in the early street, custom car days, the favorite was to put in a complete 53 Chevy grille and add in more vertical bars.

If the car was a more modified custom car, then of course, the whole custom body work and molding/shaping is brought into play.

jnaki that is a horizontal 57 grille bar (at least the end and light) with a (I think your right) 53 chevy vertical bar/tooth matted on it. That's why I would like to see the whole front end. It's just a tease not knowing.

You can scroll to the bottom of the home page and hit "load more posts" and it shows previous posts. I couldn't find any with a 56 Chevy going back about 4 clicks though.

Hey @jnaki you have a PM...:D...I'm sure one of the Custom Fellas will fill in the blanks...lots of complimentary combinations in Custom/Hotrod thats what makes it so interesting...even the manufacturers did it.

He’s not talking about a featured car, he’s meaning the car in the banner. Some one posted it a few replies back

Ok, I seldom ever open the JJ home page. That would mean it was in someone's thread

    Hey P,
I like historic searches on a specific topic...(old, oil burning, college library stack, study research days keeps butting in for more time...) If our searches are empty, then the only person that could help would be Ryan or one of the moderators on the HAMB that helped create the home page. Kustomrama did not have any photos that were close.

    The mystery continues...

or yet another way of looking at it...(it's a background image, so if you right click and then "view background image" you can see all of it without stuff on top)

Another modified photo for clarity... from Squirrel

    Hey 48,
for all of the misfortunes of that other Chevy in that rebuild thread, who knows, it may have transformed into this new front end look for the 4th or 5th time...
