Hey people I need help! I also need some pictures. (and before you ask, yes, I looked all over the internet for a few DAYS before making this post.) I'm in the process of a diecast project and wanted to try making decals for a hotwheel size model of Sam's coupe... I took a bunch at Bonneville in 2003, but I failed to take any shots of it straight on for the numbers... I need to plug the photo into the computer and print out some water transfer decals (hopefully) I'd also like the "She Bad Too" on the nose shot straight down to try... I doubt it will work, but I'd like to attempt it. Or does someone know a 3" tall painter that will work cheap? Here is the car: Here is my humble tribute... keep in mind there is only so much one can do to a car that is 2" long...
go to smitty's hot rod page? i think there was build up pics of the car also if i remember correctly dont know i site is still in operation lots of pics from around maine car shows hope this helps
Yup, that's where I got most of my build photos. It helped alot with interior colors and underhood. no shots of the numbers, though.
Hey.. Sam was a good fried of mine, anyway go on my web site last page is pic of Sam an car, click on it www.badlandscoupe.com Pontiac Slim
Slim, been there. Nice site, BTW. I'm thinking I might need to delay this and hope the Baron show up in Bonneville this year...
Hey.. thanks on comments.. After Sam died, I was given the 4 Moon dics and the original hood (steel)off the B-Ville car.... The hood is in the garage... last nite the moon disc went on my coupe. Sam alwaz said for me to Moon disc on my car... Listen... You be interested in make'n me a model like the pic? Later Pontiac Slim
IMHO ... You need to post another photo ... with a quarter beside the yellow coupe for comparsion ... just to show how SMALL the project is ... Work looks great ...
Thanks, but its nothing really. I started with the Pierson Bros. coupe... so all I did was strip it, smooth the roof insert, polish the front end, make the parachute, and detail painted it. I'm kind of a hack. See: If I were good, It would have the wedges over the hinges, the door handles would be detailed..heck, I'd bribe 'hingeman' to suicide the doors for me... and then I would find some tiny louvers to fill in the back window.
bttt for the night crew... someone know something or someone who can help a guy out? I don't wanna try to letter it with crayons...
Let me check on the wifes computer on Saturday and I am sure that I have some shots of the car from the side......... Chris Nelson Kansas
Well, since I am on "Hold" with "HP" right now for a junk "HP PSC 1510 all in one printer/copier/scanner". I can go dig for the pix.
Here are a couple that I have found with not alot of digging. I may have some more on a computer that is in the shop. I uploaded them twice so you can have a high resolution shot on "photobucket", oh yea, there is a pretty good shot of the door on "photobucket" that I did not want to resize smaller in case the numbers work for you in the shot. http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/saltflats1948/ Chris Nelson Kansas
I need straight on level side shot. I need to import that picture into a program and cut out the numbers and print them onto water slide decal paper to use. The car is done except for the numbers... the guy who is getting it can letter, but this thing is 2 1/2" long tops... he could do it, but it'll be a bitch.
I'm going to where the car is in a few weeks, if you don't get what you need by then I'll take some pic for ya Pontiac Slim
Hey Mike: I had the same idea in 2004 and had a buddy make some Hot Wheels 34's into a close proximity of the 1034 car. I took them to B'ville and gave them to, Gregg, Gary, Morse, Cheryl, and one to take home to Gloria as she didn't make the trip that year. Here is what he was able to do. He was afraid to tackle the lettering except for the number. I am looking forward to seeing the crew and seeing the car this year as they missed last year. Although Gary and Morse made it out there. I hope that Gregg gets it over 200 this year. BB
That was my plan as well... but this one ended up costing $25-30 for the stuff I needed to make it right. Slim... thanks for the effort. Let me know what you come up with. Worse case, my buddy is going to BVille this year... I'll have him shoot what I need. Mike
Here are pix I have collected. I took some at the NE Nats two years ago but they are on my home computer.
Hey.... Good !! I have a few more that I came across but thats the only side view, as said I'll be see'n the car in a few weeks if you need more. Pontiac Slim
Here's a couple of pics. I've got a few. This one isn't quite straight on but it ain't bad I blew up the "She Bad Too" And here's one of the door that's close to straight on
