Also finished tying the front to the frame rails and added a gusset at a seam.

So,as you can tell,I'm in-between parts orders.(no money,no order). So I'm taking the time to do some of all the tedious crappy stuff Ive been putting off.
So today I trimmed and welded the inside doghouse to frame.Plus put in gussets over the seams of the frame rail.I also welded out the rest of the notched out area and ground away until I got tired. Still need some more grinding.Hopefully I can get all the holes filled and ground, then clean the firewall area and get it in primer.

So after a nap,Tara and I went back to the shop.I needed her to hold a peice of brass on the inside while I filled holes from the outside. After that, grind, grind, grind. Was out there till 10 pm. Really enjoyed a nice summer Sat. night. And all the holes are filled now.

I must have left the bottle open on the welder, because the bottle was flat today. So that limited what all I had in mind to do.
So I decided to install the rotors. Ive been putting this off, because its a Ford spindle to GM metric 11" rotor conversion.
Didnt have much trouble once I got things going.
First here is a pic of the spindle.
And a pic with the bearing adapter on.
How does the adapter go on you ask?.............
The inner bearing race must be changed also, because of the different bearing size.
How do you remove/install the bearing race you ask?
Then its just a simple seal install, bearing pack and tada!

Well. We just had to sit it on all fours. The inside diameter of the rear wheels are the same as the outside of the tubes for the Dana 60. So I rolled it out on the driveway with a jack and sat it down with the tires on the axle tube.I havent sent the axle out to get ends put on or axles made yet. I think I'll raise the front end 2" because there is still more weight to put on it (heads etc).If I stand on the front then the front height goes down.As far as the rear. The mock up tires are only 26". Were definatly going with 30/31. But all in all, real happy with the stance.

Brandon, are you still running all six leaves up front or did you take some out? These spring are real stiff, I ad to take two out to get mu spring to sit close to level. I have the two short spring I took out of my spring pack if you may need them.

very cool build. the early a/fx cars are bitchin.

  15. Looks like it is coming along nicely. I really like the fact that you aren't going stupid high in the front end. Keep the pics coming.

  16. By gasser you mean that it runs on gas and not alcohol right?

It looks pretty cool, how much setback [% of wheelbase] is that? Just curious.

I just gotta say it I know its an optical illusion but in one of your pictures it looks like the chassis is sticking out past your front sheet metal.

I know that's not the case but I had to look real hard just to make sure. Got my attention anyway.

Well,Im finally back around to working on the girlfriends A/FX.Now that its winter again, and the racing season is over.
About a month ago,we decided that the wheel base wasnt altered enough.
So I cut and moved the rear frame up 8 5/8" more(already moved up 2") and moved the front axle up for a total of 4"
Still waiting on the rearend to come back from having 9" housing ends put on and alloy axles made.
But I finally got around to the "where the heck am I going to put the brake pedal" delima.
Its a Wilwood swing pedal, with a Chrystler master cylinder.
    Turned out pretty good.

Got a little more done on it this weekend.
Well, I got the Dana60 back from Dutchman. Then I was able to make new spring brakets for the rear and located them. I fully welded out the chassis.
I never liked how I did the seat mounts so I cut them out. I also did'nt like the front driveshaft loop.Cut it out too.
I'm still doing the I/C math for the ladder bars, but I built the crossmember for them but its not welded in yet.
Please note.........the quarter panels are being replace. They're rotten and smashed. So the cuts to them are not accurate nor pretty.Me and the girlfriend are actually going on a little trip up north to pick up some full quarters Monday.
    Heres some pics.

The Miss's and Me made a 160 mile round trip to save almost 300 bucks on a pair of full quarter panels L/R and L/R lamp housing sheet metal
Also picked up the rod inserts, round tube and heim joints to build the ladder bars.
