Its a '62.The motor is a 454(going to be a 468)Was going to be a 396,but I got a good deal on this block and a steele crank and rods.Still undecided on the gear box.Probably a Super T-10,right now I have a Muncie case for mock up.
Dana 60 with leaf springs, floaters and 36" ladder bars.
Its a street car that will tech and run out at the track.:D

    Looks good.
What kind of leg room are you gonna have with the main hoop at the back of the door?

Well she is only 5'5" and pretty skinny. So it wont be too bad. Im using floor mounted hydraulic clutch and brake,so I can off set the pedals some to compensate for the engine/trans dog house.
Any Yea,its for the little Miss. I have a 9 second '67 street driven Nova. She has been going to the track for years with me,and now want to play.
We were at a 'Hot Rod Nationals event and she saw some axle cars and fell in love with them. She's had her '62 for about 8 years and asked if we could make it a gasser. You bet your a$$ we can!! How awesome is that.

Looks like a fun project. Only problem i see is her getting better than you on the lights and shifter:rolleyes:. It can happen. My wife was the only one besides myself that could drive the '29 av8 I had in highschool, caused me to fall in love:cool::). After we were married she not only drove our 427 Camaro on the street but from reports that filtered back to me she never lost a stop light encounter.

I would have done all the header fab work before you started on the fire wall. It looks like it's going to be tight as hell now and a pain in the but.

Thanx for the kind words:). Yea, I'm looking foward to building the headers.Should be fun.Ive built headers for a stock engine compartment Chevy II and you want to talk about tight. This one should be alot easier.

Got the steering gear mounted up.Pleasantly surprised how well the pitman/draglink will line up. I will have to bend the drag link a bit but dosent seem uncommon on a few pics Ive seen.

  18. Looks really cool and nice fab work. Not really a Gasser by traditional rules with that much set back and what looks like it will have tubs, but a cool car never the less!

You guys are right. It isnt completely traditional. I apologize and I do understand this forum. It is mostly a very "loose" interpretation of Doug Thorley's "ChevyII Much". Yes the frame is only 32" wide, but only running 30X10.5 tires. The wheel tubs wont run out to the frame.

The nice weather is motivating. I got rid of the "turd" tranny cross member and cut/installed the new one. Now with the tranny angle set,I decided to start working on the rear. MEASURE MEASURE AND MORE MEASURE. First I had to make a final decision on the ride height(of course it is very adjustable, but the pinion wont be so I need to make sure I'm where I want to be). There will be tons more measuring before I commit. I then decided to make the upper shock mount. But the A body Mopar shocks I have are WAY to long. So I'll have to get some collaps/extended measurements and get some new ones. Anyway heres some pics.

  25. Looks like you are doing your homework! Great job, I too love the Doug Thorley Nova, the injection just tops off the build, my 65 Nova keeps requesting that I transform it to an axle car, my answer,be patient, it could happen. My best friend just acquired a 62 straight axle car formally in East Coast Gassers. The car is gold with white roof, cragars, SBC with 2 four tunnel ram. This car has been inspirational since I first saw it and your pictures add to it. There is an orange 427 injected Nova that recently was posted on here from the Midwest. That car looks incredible. The 1st Gen. Nova's really lend to up in the air gassers, thanks for sharing your build, hope to follow it as you go.:)
