  2. Somebody needs to wake that joint up!!!!!!!

The track surface looks great. Usually old tracks have weeds growing outa' every crack. The infield grass is cut. That place must still be maintained and used for testing.

Thanks for the pics Lotek! Recall it from '69/'70. Never ran on it myself but saw a bunch of races there when we were over from the Island. Used to be a real hotbed of cars of all classes - a good show for the money! Looks like the stands are long gone but as already noted, that track surface looks excellent! Regards, Dave.

  4. Track does look good. I haven't been there in over 10 years either. At that time they were still using it for show and shines. Usual story with that track. It was in the middle of nowhere and then they built houses around the people complained of the noise. Only track now is up the valley at Agassiz near Harrison Hot Springs. Pat.

  5. That'd be a good spot for a car show...

Do they have cars in Canada???

    Yeah, we have cars..

Mostly they're pulled by huskies.. A few have engines, the really rich people have tracks on thiers.

The Mercedes up here have lasers that shoot in front of the tires to melt ice and snow before you drive over it.

Our drive-thru's all have the windows mounted lower so you can go through on your skidoo or dogsled.

  14. Oh Man, thanks for the memories gents. I've been wondering what ever became of the old place. It is looking good. I was about twelve years old but I can still see the old modifieds running there in old 30s coupe and sedan bodies. My Uncles brothers ran a car there. Anyone remember the Nickels?

We have a local tack here, Western Speedway that that has been here since the 50's. In the last 5-10 yrs they built lots of "luxury" houses nearby on bare...err... that's what they did to the mountain, I should have said Bear Mountain, and some of the residents have started complaining about the track. You cannot got to Bear Mtn without going by the track...did they not see it there before they bought their houses up there????

It is the same as the people that buy houses near the airport and then complain about the noise ... the airport was there before they bought and houses were cheaper because of the location near an airport ... tough sh&t

Grew up in the area and never made it either. Did get out to Westwood a few times though, saw some cool Trans Am racing.

Things got really bleak when Mission Raceways closed in the late seventies and the closest strip was Ashcroft - eighth mile - or SIR (now Pacific Raceways, Seattle) but thanks to some good dedicated people Mission came back in the nineties and is today better than ever! Thank you BC Custom Car Association.

Bud's being a little conservative here. That place didn't just clean itself up. Post the pictures from before the cleanup. There was more than just grass and bushes growing through cracks.

Ashcroft didn't start till 86 and was always a 1/4 mile. Seimalt/Thunder Mountain near Kelowna was 1/8th and running since 82. I still haven't been there. Used to make a three or four trip to get to Seattle or Bremerton to race a dozen times each year.

I was at Langley only in the last couple seasons when it was called Action Raceway. Good times indeed.
