The 55 & 56 looked like the same box too, sans chrome trim, IDK, so maybe they were all the same?
Likely the same tooling was used to make those boxes. I guess the chrome was to drum up more business for 57 model year.
They didn't sell as many as they wanted in 55/56.
Public wasn't quite ready for the pickup/car combination yet, I guess, so then they did the El Camino next....they should have went straight to the El Camino in 55, that would have been much cooler.
Sure would've. With the Nomad B pillars, quarters and tailgate.
You only lose 1 demerit point... hahaha
Probably partially my fault, I am the one that talked about Chevy should have built the El Camino starting in 55. It is a very nice looking 55 so it isn't a problem for me.
No problem 59Apachegail. These conversions are always interesting. This picture with my old 58 Chevy includes my current 56 EL conversion and a current and former 37 Chevy.
I would like to see more pictures of you 56 El Camino project, do you have a build thread on it?
Your 56 is a great ride. Need to see more
Build thread is a couple of years old for my 56 ElCamino. Can be found here. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/some-pics-of-my-friends-1956-elcamino.399170/
Thanks for sharing the pictures and I enjoyed looking back on the build thread, excellent workmanship. Looks like you make a regular habit of it, too.
That's so cool. My grandad had a 58.
Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
My girlfriends 58 Biscayne, RHD with a 350 350 set up... Hers is obviously the pink one haha. The blue is owned by a painter who works next door to me, converted from a 4dr hardtop 15-20 odd years ago here in Perth.
The first one isn't a 58 Chevy, It's a 49 to 51 Ford.
Ok I'm just about tapped out and I cant remember which ones I've already posted.
This is the one I like the best of the old school mild customs.... which one do you like best??
I like this one best.
I'm not sure I can say that I have a favorite among them, the following all appeal to me a lot.
Here are a couple of different shots of my sedan delivery
The interior is undergoing a makeover during the winter, the console has gone. I'll post a new interior picture when it's done
Here is my Delray. Doing some little kustom stuff to it.
A little photoshop exercise I did on "What if GM had sold a lot of trifive Nomads and continued them in 58."
Started to buy this one, but looked like it would need too much work.
I sure like what I saw in your jalopy journal thread. Don't pay any attention to the nay sayers I have heard it all on my roadster build. I would have quit if I cared about their opinions. keep us up to date on your build
