Blowby, what is the story on that 58, is/was it yours? I usually think the 58 looks best slightly lowered all the way around, but that one looks so badass!

It was my first car, high school into college. My friends were driving hot rodded tri-fives so I followed suit with what I had. Went from 283 powerglide to 3 speed to 4 speed to 396. Never did swap the rear end, blew a lot of spider gears. Converted to one piece drive shaft. Made extended spindles for the front. Give my left nut to have it back today. Ca. black plate DND 671. Traded it for a '67 Camaro RS in San Diego around 1977. Thanks for asking. Impala2.jpg

I know what you mean about wishing you had it back, so many of my previously owned cars I would love to still have. I guess that goes along with the territory of being a car lover, huh? ;):rolleyes:o_O:confused::D

So, Will a 58 front bumper fit on a 57? Frame similarities in front?

the 58 is 6 inches wider than a 57, so not going to fit without modification

Thanks. As I looked at pics, I kept thinking of the similarities to Pontiacs.

We've had this one since 1980. Paint and chrome are original. Drivetrain isn't.
First picture is from 1980. Second is from a couple years ago. CCI09142014_0002.jpg DSC_5497 - Copy.JPG

Is that a section from another hood latched in there for shows?

Love the 58 Impala, probly the best Impala ever built IMHO. I am looking for a roof from one if anyone knows where there might be one so rotten from the belt line down that it wouldn't be a shame to cut it up. Its a tough part to find these days.

I would try Auto City Classic, they have a lot of parts cars. 763-444-5880

This may take a little more time but, trying following the layitlow website under "Project rides". From time to time, someone posts their '58 convertible conversion projects. I'm sure if you contacted one of these guys, it could be had for cheap. I'd also look at past (completed) projects to see if they still have the roof.

    Best of luck,

    Chevyhound
