Here's some of my snapshots from the
Three Iconic Hot Rods:
A few from the "BRIZIO Reunion":
@Butcher Boy's "49 states in 9 days" Deuce Hiboy (see www.49in9.com)
JJ Barnhardt's Deuce 5wd
Al Engle's 392ci HEMI powered Deuce Hiboy
The Mariani Deuce Coupes: Dennis' 3wd & Mark's 5wd
Every year (since '91) @ the West Coast Nats, I pick a car in memory of my father ... the "Bruce Olson Best Bitchin' Memorial Award".
I typically choose a traditional-styled Hot Rod ... the majority of which have been '32 Fords ... though I have picked others ... a '33, a '34, and a few '29s (e.g., Mark Morton's "RODZY" in 1994).
Last year I choose @3wLarry's old Deuce 3wd Coupe (currently owned by David Kelley).
This year there were plenty of Bitchin' Traditional-styled Hot Rods to choose from ... but I eventually narrowed it down to Mark Mariani's BRIZIO built, ARDUN equipped, chopped 5-window Coupe:
Rich Guasco's latest incarnation of Pure Hell was also in attendance:
The sound quality sucks ... and you can't smell the Nitro ... but here's a short video of it Cacklin':
@plywude's '51 Plymouth Savoy Woodie:
@DRD57's '32 Roadster:
HAMBer (and "power-parker" ) @PhatCaddy's '57 Cadillac Custom:
Brian ... tried to chase you down on Friday ... but you were cruisin' thru the fairgrounds too fast! ... oh well, I'm sure I'll run into you at another event.
@KIRK! & @seret's "The LEGION SPECIAL":
Kirk & Matt ... it was nice to finally meet you guys ... The Legion Spl. is even cooler in person! ... please keep us updated on its progress.
Michael Moal's Sanitary Shoebox
Moal-built Tracknosed '29
Dennis Varni's Rollin' Bones Tudor
The Tony Martinez Hiboy ... a real "Survivor" ... Tony built it in the '60s (including the BBC & 'Vette
IRS) ... he still owns & drives the roadster today! ... Note that this is the same car that appears
on the cover of the Andy Southard Jr. book entiltled "HOT RODs & CUSTOMs of the 1960s":
"Larry W's" and "Billy B's" hiboys
Howdy Ledbetter's Packard & Vintage Travel Trailer
@Detonator's Nailhead-powered RPU:
... and another cool RPU:
NOTE: I apologize for that last one ... a very rude spectator walked right into my shot!
An amazing sculpture by Clyde "Ross" Morgan ... checkout his website @ www.clyderossmorgan.com.
Unbelievably cool scale engines from the Bay Area Engine Modelers club ...
checkout more photos on their website @ www.baemclub.com/pages/photos1.html.
