During a recent visit to the Northeast U.S. , we visited 1. the Owls Head transportation museum in Maine. They had really old stuff including Brass Era cars, old airplanes, a collection of early MG's, and some weird stuff. Also went to the Saratoga Auto museum in Saratoga Springs, NY This had some non-friendly sprots cars, but most of the stuff was on-topic. Had a neat section of NY based race cars including an Allard (Cad-powered, naturally). Pics here: http://s1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb436/scmerkur/Saratoga Auto Museum/ Is this not drop-dead gorgeous?
In Bar Harbor, Maine, we got to the small Seal Harbor Museum. Mostly Brass era stuff Album here: http://s1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb436/scmerkur/Seal Cove Auto Museum/
And in Philadelphia, we got to see the Simione Collection of race cars, most in their as-raced condition. Album here: http://s1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb436/scmerkur/Simione Collection/ Yes, this is a REAL Daytona Coupe
Great pictures of some amazing cars. Thanks for taking the time to post them up for all to enjoy. I had the honor and pleasure to help on the restoration of this beautiful Alfa when it was in the NorthWest, did alot of the body and paint work and fabricated the running boards back in 2005-2006, it won its class at Pebble Beach and was runner up for best of show in 2007. Sold at auction in 2008 for $2.6 million. Had not heard where it went after the sale, glade its out so the public can enjoy it. Alan
