Congrats. I hope you can get it running and have some fun this Summer.

  2. Brayden,

With TorkWrench's evaluation that you may very well have a 3.70 diff ratio, here's some numbers to give you an idea of what rpm's you will be turning when in third gear (1:1) on a TH350 using a 26" - 27" tall tire:

    120kph/75mph: 3586rpm (26") - 3453rpm (27")... less scientific answer: about 3500rpms
    100kph/62mph: 2965rpm (26") - 2855rpm (27")... less scientific answer: about 2900 rpms
    80kph/50mph: 2391rpm (26") - 2302rpm (27")... less scientific answer: about 2300 rpms

    Assuming a 3.08 rear diff:
    100kph/62mph: 2468rpm (26") - 2376rpm (27")... less scientific answer: about 2400 rpms

You can see how a taller rear diff gear yields about 500 fewer rpm at highway speed.

^^^^^ Factor in 10% more on the RPM's for any automatic without lock-up. Your calculations are based on 1 to 1 without any slippage developing within the converter.

Quick update for ya! Ended up going towards a full disc setup. With dual diaphragms. And buying a totalled off 2001 Chevy 1500 truck. Gonna use the motor, trans and driveshaft off of it!

Also fooled around with some lace paint too.

^^^^^ No one can stop you from doing it your way Braydenh56. What Jeffdl988 is saying. Select the wording you use here for a while longer and you'll fly under the radar. :)

    ***UPDATE***

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Interior stripped out, door panels stripped, headliner yanked out, sanded floor. Also found one moderately sized hole underneath the rear seat on the driver side on the body mount. Underside sanded and painted with POR15.

Frame sanded and painted. Engine bay sanded and painted.

Found out I have 3.73 ratio in the rear end. Also found a 350SBC and TH350 to slap in!

Was contemplating working on making the factory manual column shift work with the th350. But decided to go with a lokar 32" double bend floor shift.

Still waiting to find a good hood latch (need the chrome trim along the nose of the hood) and to work on my trunk latch. And patch a few holes in the trunk.

Also found my brake setup. I'm going with a right stuff kit off summit racing, 2 inch drop spindles in the front and an axle flip/ block in the rear.

  10. Don't be in a hurry to chuck the door panels, the stainless on 'em is specific and the cardboard is a pattern if nothing else.

  11. Looking good. Glad you decided to go with a small-block.

59chev - yeah. I figured it would be the better low budget route. After a couple sleepless nights and research. SBC is the better route to go either way.

  13. Brayden,

FWIW, I'm getting ready to pull the sbc & TH400 out of my '56 210 in order to do a cam, intake & head swap; and reseal the TH400 to buy me another year or two of use on it. Will clean up & paint my engine compartment during that time as well. Starting to get ready now, but will really get after it early August, when my time will be my own for awhile. All reasons why I'm enjoying following your thread, so keep after it. Here's my motley beast...

20170310_092151.jpg so here is what I have done, if you remember the first pictures I had put on here, now slowly I have started to get some of the parts, and have done, rebuilt engine, put grill and head lights back on, added new wheels and tires, started to patch all the rust inside, and dropped the tank, cleaned it and getting ready to put it back in, next will be the front end, new ball joints, uppers and lowers, like I said, slow working.

Canadian cars never had a tag on the A pillar, just the cowl tag.
