Hey fellas, just thought I would share my new ride with everyone. I traded away my 54 customline for it. It still has the flat 6 and three speed. Supposedly it was rebuilt in the 90s. Its missing a few things, but it's not so bad. Also, whoever rebuilt it used rivets and galvanized metal as patch panels... Sweet! But, as usual, I will be asking lots of questions and will need some help with stuff. Thanks for lookin! Rocky Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Cool man! Galvanized and pop rivets are "IN" for every Plymouth coupe of the era! Trust me on that one... Any help I can give, just let me know. I'm supposedly going to a private yard that has several of these cars this week, so keep in touch.

Love it! Very cool. I may have a rear gravel pan that I'll let go, if you decide you need one. Not sure I'm going to use mine on my car.
Can you guys inform me on the bolt pattern for these plymouths? I'm at work right now and can't measure mine. I would like to get rid of the wheels that are on it and put on some steel ones. Thanks guys!
Well, I had my first full day to work on the car. Spent a while trying to get it fired up, but the wiring is sketchy so I stopped. Then I ripped out the front suspension. Also ripped out the old headliner. After that I chipped off a lot of bondo or whatever filler they used before. It was a mess! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I'm gonna rebuild the front end and go with disk brakes I think. Do the shock relocation too. That's the plan for now because I would like to keep the flat 6. If I went will a bigger engine then maybe the mustang front, but I doubt it. And if I can, I would like to throw a t5 behind the engine and maybe an explorer rear. I just don't know how else to lower the back than with blocks. I'd like to stay away from blocks. The front end will get the aerostar coils and the coil bucket dropped to the underside of the control arm. I won't know anything about this engine until I rewire the car. I hope to start that this weekend! Rocky Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Posies sells 3" rear lowering springs, they aren't cheap though. I installed them on my '38 Plymouth Coupe. I had the stock 75 year old sagging springs with 3" blocks. The end result was not quite as low, so I removed 2 leafs on each side, sits much better & still not a bad ride. I still may add 1" blocks to get it lower & will not have any scrub line issues-like I did with the stock springs & 3" blocks. Here's the link for the springs...go to page 38: http://www.posiesrodsandcustoms.com/images/pages3247.pdf
Hub may be different, rims off a '66 Ford wouldn't fit on a '69 Charger I used to have. Q.E.C., "73RR" here on the Board, makes tranny adaptors for the flattys. My '48 has a clip from a '73 Cutlass that works good with a 331 Hemi or other rear sump types.
