Projects Picked up a 31 A roadster project

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Barillaro Speed Emporium, Oct 26, 2013.

  1. I just picked up a stock 31 roadster project this week. It was said to have last been driven in the 70's and it was partially disassembled. It has juice brakes and round back spindles. I think I am going to do a stripped down banger hot rod or possibly an AV8. I will post photos as I make progress.

Wow, thats a solid project! I'd say leave the body the way it is and just hop-up the banger a little (is that an aluminum head on there?).

  3. Thanks, it's a little crusty from sitting in a carport but overall it's pretty solid. It's not an aluminum head, I guess someone thought the silver paint would look cool! I'm definitely going to get the 4 banger running and rebuild the brakes for starters.

    yessss, keep the fenders.

  5. I'm going to "keep" the fenders, just not sure if I'm going to run them. My buddy Charlie at Gene's hot rod parts has Okie Joe axles in stock so if fenders stay on it I will run a 4" dropped axle and big and little black walls.

Stay with the banger, everyone is going with V8 flatheads and the banger's are tons of fun.

  7. I'm really leaning toward the banger. I just finished my 29 with a V8 and I thought this would be fun for my wife.

  30. Put the top on it and got the bows loosened up. Hope to find good used upholstery for it.
