Wood still needs to be fastened together, given a coat or 4 or Spar varnish.. & I'm very likely going to change the shape of the side pieces. Not too shabby for a freebie. I'm the 3rd owner.

Thats sweet looking, good color choice also.

  3. cool, I like salvaging stuff like that, like the idea of the wood top. ...might want to round the back corners after putting in a reinforcing block on the inside?

got a couple smaller (hand carry), old tool boxes to redo, myself.

I went to Lowes to pick up some 3/4 plywood for the top, but found a 20x48 pine tabletop that was a couple of bucks cheaper than a 24x48 piece of ply. I thought about what you suggested with the rear corners, but I kinda like the square inside corners.

Probably going to use it to store my vintage tools :)

Looks good, just wondering why you didn't fix the dents if you went to all the work to repaint it?

It's double skinned so the options were bondo or getting stuck into it with the stud welder etc. I did take the large dent out of the right side.

I liked it patina'd personally. Old boxes are so cool if you ask me. You chose a nice, vintage color for it at least other than the nasty Craftsman red. Nice box for sure.

Yup, Rustoleum Hammered finish Verde Green. Makes it easy to take care of any future scratches.
