Too much black for me. I would have cleaned up the chrome as best as you could until you could find something better.

    I am diggin your progress.

it's just sealed in enamel satin black to preserve the metal...the pieces of chrome thats on it were all pitted real bad and all have to come back off at paint time.. so I just painted them black for now..even if I do get the new bumpers from santa.. I won't put them on till it's painted... I use the black to see every little dent on the car, and do PDR on the dents...you'd be surprised at the little dents you can find with simi gloss black paint.. and not have to spend days blocking and guide coats..

but you can see what rusted parts look like on a black body..

  5. Paint the roof and bumpers white for some contrast

I had this photo saved as chevy a go go

I'm having a real hard time finding 58 parts so far...seems like I used to get parts from a place called "late great"... or something like that... but that was 30 years ago... my goal now is to just get it laser straight with all the body lined up proper...like said... there's no bondo anywhere on this car.. with the black paint I keep finding little pressure dents and dings that I'm able to PDR , so should be a no bondo car when done got one little rust out to fix in front of the dr. side rear wheel

guess I didn't look this over well enough... thought the core support and fender where too high on the pass. side..... but looking at this pic, the bars on the grille line up and show the hood tweeked down on the pass. side .. so should be an easy fix...

there are a few reasons I do it this way,...one... once stripped it protects the metal... and two... it telegraphs all the damage... you will see every minor imperfection ... the dents in the pic on the truck lid... never seen them... I'll PDR them out...might take awhile... hopefully I can pressure shrink the centers and finish to no bondo

hows that for luck.... both dents are (were) behind the trunk brace....got them real real close,... maybe .10... or less... ended up with a big low spot... got that pushed up...we'll see when I block the trunk lid...bet close enough for primer and maybe a skim of glaze...

    Confirmed, or advertised as?

You're making a lot more progress than I would have in six weeks.

  17. I thought about that but do not think it is traditional as "duct tape". Think 100 MPH tape used on old round track cars to repair accident damage.
