Thanks! I was wondering how to get the paint off without hurting the cover! I love the HAMB. Lippy

Make sure you cover it as it sits.....
Hell! Use the other valve cover to cover it face to face with a gasket in between... :)
And DON'T spill none or get that stuff on your hands!!!

thats an odball, cant say ive seen one before.

Id say it ws made around 55-67 being that theres a spot to cover the breather at the back of the block by the distributor hole, they stopped making blocks with breathers there in 67.

  6. I saw this 5-two's setup at the LARS swapmeet that looks like it for a SBC. New to me....

What are the tubing sizes on these? 1.5" primary, 2" secondary? When did Hedman first start making these?

Stumbled upon some old Hot Rod Yearbooks at my university library and found these pictures. I forgot to get the owner info and car info but I did snap a couple pictures.

I had a hard time finding the year of it. I do know it's Yearbook number 5, if anyone knows what year that came out. The copyright was from 1965 so I assumed it was 1965 until I opened Yearbook 6 and saw a few cars that were newer than its copyright of 1966. One was even a Dodge Challenger. I'm going to see about whether the staff at my university library will keep me in mind should they decide to downsize their library. One of the ladies working there goes to my church so I should have some pull on that. :)

I found Hot Rod Yearbooks 5 and 6, a 1971 Chilton manual on fixing automobiles between 1940-1953, and "Best Hot Rods" from 1953 which had names and records from the SCTA, show rods, drag cars, articles on building motors, porting and polishing heads, etc. it was pretty cool. I was interested in the "Best Hot Rods" book the most though.

Check out the last date that book was checked out.

Chevy had an option like this for their '69 Z/28 Camaros... Very few owners bought that option....

How about factory rare... 9 fin Corvette valve covers (late 56 to April of 57)... and they used to be very common but ya don't see many Headman Tri-Y's anymore

Finally got around to scanning those pictures. I'm only uploading the one with the clear rocker covers. I might start a separate thread with pictures from the books I've found in my library. There's some sweet stuff in the 1965 Hot Rod Yearbook!

That looks like a set-up a guy on the East Coast had on a Chevy powered '40 Ford in the sixties. His ran only on the center carb.

I'm pretty sure these aren't rare...although I've never seen any others. I don't know anything about them...anyone? I thought Donovan was only into Mopar engine parts.

hope I didn't put a hex on this thread with my pressed steel valve covers lol :eek::eek:

  23. I've never tried Super Clean before, but I've used Brake Fluid to strip paint and glue off old model cars for years. No damage so far!

  24. Actually, Donovan makes a lot more versions of Chevy Blocks than Hemis.

    JGMagoo1939,
This car belongs to a good friend of mine, it's a 30 Model A Coupe. There's a 400 in it and he made the intake manifold in his shop. This car is A LOT of fun to drive. He is an incredibly talented guy! He owns a body shop but perfers to work on and build hot rods.

Today he painted my new 350 crate engine that arrived this week. You should see the crazy motor mount he made for my engine!!!!

  30. Those are Pete Jackson injectors built around 1969. He had a 1960 Ford Falcon drag car that he used as a test bed. I wouldn't think he built more than twenty five total unit. Remembering back he made his money selling gear drive units, and the injection units were a limited market.
