    You could drive one thru a planetary gear set. Easy to find in any automatic trans. If you were really clever you could gear it up for more boost and shift to direct drive at hi speed to prevent overboosting.

    Having said all that, some of the most experienced builders of performance cars in the world, namely Bentley, Mercedes and Stutz all tried it and gave it up. They were troublesome and never really satisfactory especially on the street.

    The best, most efficient supercharger is the centrifugal type developed in America on Miller and Duesenberg race cars, used on the street by Graham, Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg later by Kaiser, Studebaker and Ford, until superseded by the turbocharger .
