I recently took some pictures of various cars at rest in the Nevada desert. I thought some of you might enjoy these.

  6. Maybe a stupid question but why not load these Desert Cars on your trailer and take them home?? I live nowhere near a desert but that is what I would do. Are they not abandoned?

looks like some good stuff left on that merc coupe.

    nice pics!

  12. You could probably sell that whole '62 Chrysler to someone in the east, all the stuff that usually rots on them looks good on it.

These pictures were taken just outside of Winnemucca, Nevada back in the 1990's. It was an old junk yard area, I'm sure they are all long gone by now..... to bad!

i just got home from a trip out to desert again. i didn't find any cars this weekend but i did find this old tire. it was out kinda by emerson dry lake. it must have been out there for many, many years. its hard as a rock and was half burried. i spotted it about 30 yards off the little trail we were on so i drove over to it. it looked like an old blackwall tire i figured it was off an old jeep or something until i turned it over and saw the wide whitewall then i looked closer and it turnout to be a bfg silvertown. i wonder what the hell it was on and how it ended up out there. there is no acess by car where i found it. i was about 10 to 15 miles from any kind of road that a car could travel on. i strapped it to the rack on the rhino and brought it home. im going to hang it on the wall in the garage.

That's a 36 Lincoln Zephyr Sedan. I had a friend that found a 39 in similar condition. Cut the dash out and put it on Ebay. Sold for $500.00.:D

I go off-roading all the time in the desert areas, and I see plenty of old cars. It's a shame.

One of these days we are going to get the transmission out of this 49 cad.

Love the tire, "dirt". The stories these cars could tell.

Probably a survivor from the glory days of desert racing. Used to be about 2000 bikes line up for a Hare 'n Hound then race to the burning tires for the start of the trail. Those were great days but the EPA & the BLM put an end to that.

  29. I toured around the Imperial Valley a lot this December and aside from seeing lots of tri 5 chevy stuff I really didn't see much. All I scored was this old bike from "Slab City"

  30. I have posted these before. This is about as close to desert as we have here, very dry country. These cars are still there, I've a pulled a few goodies from the shoebox. LOTS of iron and junk out those back country agricultural roads if your brave enough to forgo the posted signs...
