Looking to see who's using a grill other than the standard model A, '32, or '34.... not looking for pics of some rapper's front teeth. Not looking for rat rod looking stuff (even though some tractor grills do fit the general shape of the early fords) - just different takes on the front grill, something unique thats been executed tastefully... Anyone?
thing about grills is that 32s look right cause tehy are right... might seem overdone but its for a reason that grill is HORRID... damn..
stationary industrial engine company, started with hit and miss in the very early 1900's and progressed up to a water cooled 4 cyl. in the 30's
i dig the the olds for sure, the edsel looks like with some minor altercations it could be realy track nose-ish. iether way i still dig it on the car its on
Just once I'd like to see a grille mounted on a rat that isn't just sawed off at the bottom regardless of what it looks like. Does imagination and finish work end just above ground level with a chain saw?
Here's one...from a 33 Chevy Pickup...not to too crazy..but I think the 34 Chevy hood ornament ads to the deco appeal. Tim MBL
the 37 desoto grille is killer. ever since seeing the bluebird (the car in that pic) i want one bad. i have a pic of that car on the wall in my cube at work...
My dad made one from scratch for his 27 Chrysler roadster. Shell is aluminum, and the bars are stainless. It's kind of a cross between a stock grille and a track nose.
I may be the only person who thinks this... but grilles like these look extremely out of place on an open car or truck. I realize the creativity behind them, and commend it... but the aesthetic is just horrible to me. Not to mention that the terraplane grille looks like it's tweaked.
That 36 Desoto is beatiful. Love the way the grill ends of in a point like that. Now it looks to me like the carbs are going into the air filter? Am I right? Sorry, I don't know too much yet. Almost every other grill on this thread is awesome. There are some beautiful looking cars. I like the Olds too, it looks fucking gnarly, like something out of Mad Max almost. Wouldn't wanna cut that car off.
I believe your are looking at the plenum for a old time Mculloch blower setup not an "air filter" I wouldn't have known it either except I've seen a similar setup with the hood off on another post. Here is a link http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=188154&highlight=vintage+blower s.
