Projects Phaeton build any pics or ideas??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 29 bones, Jul 8, 2009.

  1. I cannot believe I missed this thread. I have LOTS of photos.
I I am doing a 27 Touring but my "ultimate" is a fendered '32 phaeton. Kind of like the black one above. Orginally wanted something like the #9 tub.
I just keep not having enough money to get the body when they pop up for sale.
Then I would use a Cornhusker chassis - ideally with quick change.
I have it all planned....in my head:)

Thanks Stoggie for the photo link with hundreds of touring cars. I didnt realize that there has been a ton of them built. Mine will be out this summer and then a trip to the salt in August.

Cool I hope to see you there. We are looking forward to it and will be staying at the bend as I hear that is where the party is.

  12. Ford called their cars tourings up until 1927. Phaetons was the name starting in 1928. Someone here said T's only had 3 opening doors. Not true. Ford USA had 4 opening doors in 26-27. 1925 and older ones had 3 opening doors. Ford of Canada had 4 opening doors on every year T touring as we made the export or right hand drive ones for shipment around the world so the passenger front door had to open as well. Just a bit of trivia. So if you want a T tub with 4 opening doors get a Canadian made one. The car with the funny windshield posts that someont thought was not a real phaeton is wrong. It is a rare 2-door phaeton. Not many real steel ones around. Pat.

I dont think I answered this question.

I already had my duece tub, it was just a body, but was filled with whole bunch of good body parts. To me it was incredible find even back then. Sold it to Jack Rosen who finished it .

  15. Here's a couple of my favorites. I'm surprised nobody has built a real life copy of the Monogram Red Chariot. Notice how everybody is having such a good time!

  16. Just want to add another non-Ford. This is a '34 Terraplane tourer bodied in Australia by Ruskin. We'd call it a phaeton in the US of course. Adding it to comment that this was a single sidemount car and given the choice, it is certainly preferable to take the extra weight of the spare tire(s) and wheel(s) and hardware off of your steering axle and put the spare anywhere else (on the rear, in the back seat, in the trailer, leave it at home!)

I agree with, TRIPLEXKUSTOMS, I have a Model B motor in my 1930 Phaeton, cheap, easy to maintain. and more fun than anything I have ever driven.
    Draws a lot of attention

I am new to this, not sure why my photo is not showing.
