    Well I borrowed some drag radials, & dropped my ET from a street tire best of 12.53 @ 107 to a 12.21 @ 109.

Strange thing is both 60' times are mid 1.8, My street tires are 30" tall were as the slicks I used were only 27" tall.

    Oh yea, it's a 2700 lb. 31 coupe SBC/700r

shorter tires would yield the quicker elapsed time, by making the gearing lower.

But I would have expected the mph to be the same or maybe 1 mph off.

  3. How about a picture of your car? What gears are you running, carbs chopped top, etc? 12.21 is quite good pushing that much wind aside.

2700 Lbs seems quite heavy for an A coupe with a SBC & your signature says "no fenders". My full fendered 4 door 327 SBC with full interior & hood with a tri five rearaxle weighed 2820 when weighed at the lumber yard.

I forgot to mention I have a 3:89 gear, with the 27" tire I was over 6 grand thru the traps.

2680 lbs. with driver (me 140lbs) weighed at a truck stop.
    5" chop.

As bad as it smokes the street tires I had hoped for a little better times with the drag tires.
    Any way here's a pic..

Do you have a high stall converter ? A higher stall would help 60 ft times but hey 12.2 is pretty quick in my books.

I have a TCI 2200-2400, but all I can get out of it is 2000.

Need to get it to 60'. Try different tactics on the converter leave. 1K, 1,500... I have had some cars that if you just mash it (Flash the converter) and go 60' better than stalling it.

Does it squat and go? Does it lift /transfer and go? How does the chassis react? Are you sure everything is free andnot bound anywhere in the travel? Pinion angle and ladder/4 link set up go a very long way in your 60' as well.

Losing 3" of tire diameter should of picked up in the 60' that is why I ask about the chassis set up.

Enough fuel to feed it? Timing....start in one area and work your way through the car. Don't try to change everything at once and write it all down so you know what worked and didn't.

As well a 12.21 is pretty damned repsectable on the street.

Dude, 1.8 60' is stout for a street car. Dayum, that thing runs.

Since you didn't see a change in the 60, I'd say it's really a commentary on your gear ratio more than starting line traction.

I was doing 1.67 60fts in a 3300# car running 12.46 @ 107.50.... so Id say 1.6's on sticky's should be in your reach with some tuning. And you deffinitly have to change you tune going from spinning to hooking.

They had a couple delays (track cleanup) so was only able to get 3 runs in.

When I run with the street tires I can't load the convertor,(spins to much on launch) & when I hit 2nd it gets squirrely.:)

    With the drag tires I tried leaving at 1K & 2k both 1.8 60'
I may not have heat them up enuff ? Maybe too much bite lugging the engine?

I have a ladder bar set up on it (non adjustable)Launchs fairly level no ass down wheels up attitude.
