What he's saying is there's a lot more to New York than a huge city next to Long Island. Try looking at a map sometime -

Mom grew up in Oyster Bay, Dad was born in NYC. I'm looking south as I type this and can see the aircraft warnings lights on the island, old LILCO stacks are clearly visable in the daytime. Just checked, that is 28 miles as the crow flies.

 

LOL. Well, truth be told, I was born in California, moved to NY at a very young age. Must be the California thang in me still.
