It's not Dean Lowes old truck but it is 100% awesome. It looks great all the time, but on this weekend, with its new roll cage, and without the screen and lights etc it looked bad ass. Love this truck.

  3. I think it's time to plan a trip for next year, since I've always wanted to see Great Britain anyway, what better excuse than an event like this as well!

  4. Wow...... Impressive to say the least.

Thanks for the nice comments about the photos! As I've had a few requests they're all now available to buy as prints (there are also quite a few that weren't in the flickr gallery so your car may be there even if it didn't appear before)...

A trip to the Pendine Sands looks like it would be as good as Bonneville.

I still say it would be. Two different types of events and both great events to see. Two very different events I know but both events are something not every one can get to easily.

Looks like I'll be able to combine the family camping holiday and a brilliant event next year. I used to live near Pendine and often thought it was a shame that there was no racing there anymore. Well now there is. I think it's true to say that traditional rodding has overtaken streetrodding in Europe and will continue to grow in popularity. Events like this are just what the scene needs.
    Well done.

Every picture i´ve seen from Pendine send a message to my brain that i got to find a way to go there next year. I don´t think i´ve seen anything that impressive in a long long time.

Here's some of the many pictures taken by Andy Meaton . First up is Friday arrival day , camping in the grounds of The Museum of Speed ( which houses "Babs" the last car to run on the sand ) . Everywhere you looked was a photo opportunity - the atmosphere was electric ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380131855.110055.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380131874.546982.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380131891.962019.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380131913.167022.jpg

Saturday the course was laid out , the beach was combed for debris , if it was buzzing on Friday - the atmosphere in the pits was unbelievable , the VHRA kept it pre-54 it was like a Montgomery book came to life and I'm in it ! The cars went up in groups of about 15 , I had the luxury of following in the tracks of others before me , 1/2 mile run up , thru the traps and a 1/2 mile run down before the dreaded porridge ! Not going as fast as some my car behaved it self but it still gave me the biggest buzz I ever had in this hobby (35 years) View attachment 2037894 View attachment 2037895 View attachment 2037896 View attachment 2037897 View attachment 2037898 View attachment 2037899 View attachment 2037902 View attachment 2037903 View attachment 2037904 View attachment 2037905 View attachment 2037906 View attachment 2037907 View attachment 2037908 View attachment 2037909 ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380133905.216719.jpg

2nd big pic up, Neil Biggles Bennet in the Batten Special (CKR 191/FM24) set top speed of the event at over 114mph.

    Great pics, Johnny.

After you ran you waited for the other 14 or so before returning to the pits, the top end was the best place of all, I hate to say this but you had to be there to understand . We all had 3 runs and on the last run everybody stayed at the top end , we returned en mass which was mayhem and magnificent all at the same time . Many thanks to the VHRA , fellow racers , crew and Andy Meaton for letting me share these pictures . 30. It's still sinking in how historically epic this was - set myself a record too that now I have to beat...

Brilliant pictures here and the other Pendine thread.
