Hmmm... tilt columns that don't tilt, dummy air conditioning set set ups, dummy power steering set ups, dummy mega buck stereos, dummy cruise control systems, steering wheels that aren't really steering wheels, dashes that aren't really dashes. Have you really seen these things?

Are these things really "fake" or do you just not like to see them on hot rods?(I pesonally don't like to see most of those things on hot rods)

Just bucause you don't like something doesn't make it "fake".

An empty blower case bolted over a single four barrel, 409 valve covers attached to small block chevy valve covers, those I would consider "fake".

To me, "fake" is trying to make a thing appear to be something it is not.

No they never did anything fake in the old days. They never added dummy spots, fake antennas, lake pipes that were not hooked up, or put Caddie bumpers and grills on Chevys. No it was all the real deal.

That was the point I was trying to make, guess I didn't express myself very well. What I meant was you walk up to a car that looks like a nice traditional old hot rod and look inside and see all that modern stuff, hence "fake" not what it appears to be.

Ah, now I got ya. The other day I was at my favorite hardware store in the fastener isle when I overheard some loud mouth blowhard yammer about his street rod builder buddie's "rat rod", TCI frame, ZZwhatever crate motor, 700R4, Gear Vendors overdrive (two overdrives? ), bla, bla ,bla, with a rusty Model A body and mexican blanket interior. All I could think to myself was this car is just a modern streetrod with a shitty body and shitty interior. Most annoying.

fake patina is like a honda civic with white walls & suede.

    I hate that shit

maybe when you get good at painting fake patina you can paint all your buddies honda civics to match.

im sure if boyd coddington did it you would to.

Why not just paint it and make your own patina.

The patina crazy is over rated IMO.

..just give the car a good paintjob and drive it everyday ! Drive it in the snow,in the rain and leave the car in your shop while you´re grinding metal! Leave the bird shit on your roof !Don´t wash the car, don´t polish it ! Leave the car in the shop while you move heavy things around and ooops-a scratch ! Let the paint grow old ! just my two cents...;)
