Rod Powell's 39 Chevy, striped by Donn Varner:

Another Donn Varner (this was a panel job... but the striping stands out in B&W):

The Kookie T (Edd Burns pictured) during the 77 Sunset Strip had striping that differs, slightly, as it went down by the door beading, accenting the panel. If you look at the car in other publication pics, it's not there.

Maybe @Del Clark can snap a detail pic of the stripes on the trunk? It's something never really focused on. 2 pinstripes travel to the rear and split, guided by the car's lines. It's very classy.

  11. The "Novel-T". here it is the day I bought it at the Winternationals car show, in 1967 IIRC. Don't know the girls name, she was walking around the show so I just asked her and a couple other girls there to pose by the car.

Awesome @lurker mick ! I think this variation is incredible.

Do you know who owned the roadster in that group of cars, above?

This car was recreated. I had to share to show the wild pipes. I love that audaciousness.

Okay, one last car for the weekend.

Yesterday's Child 56 Chevy. It has a neat story. Check @Panneton Bros. Racing thread for the story.

    Hello,

When we were going to Lion’s Dragstrip almost every weekend and then the multiple car shows at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium and then the Sports Arena, this 1932 Vicky Altered Sedan played a big part of any show it entered. The detailing of the Altered Sedan is one for the books. A trophy winner at the drags and at car shows all over So Cal.

The white paneling via pinstriping stands out on the bright purple paint color. Of course, being a So Cal local, it was part of the Joe Mailliard Engineering Enterprises, better known as a speed shop. That shop had their fingers in plenty of local fast drag racing coupes, sedans and in the dragster class.

The version with the downdraft aircraft carburetors was one of the most unusual. With the work being done on this sedan, sometimes the motor was switched out to other competition coupes and FED race cars. But, to get more power with the latest equipment, the popular Hilborn Injectors on the new 671 supercharger was called for in the build.

What a difference a year makes in reconstructing the beautiful purple Ford Vicky.
