    Hey CF55,
Here is another photo from a little earlier in the space time continuum.

After campaigning her fast Corvette in the local So Cal drag races at different dragstrips, she met Tom Mc Mullen. They ended up together and ran the whole hot rod/custom motorcycle empire for many years. The bubble hairdo is typical of the early to mid 60s styling… ha!

I met her when her hair was black and a lot longer. But these blond hair photos are from the very early days in So Cal.

  20. Jnaki, wasn't Deanna Tom's wife when he owned the publishing company?

    Hey LM,

It was a confusing time. The whole thing started in 71-72 and continued through their plane crash. In 73-74, the empire split up. Tom got the publishing business. Rose got the motorcycle business. So, yes and no. No, they both owned the publishing business and the Motorcycle empire. But, yes at the end, Deanna was part of the McMullen family and equal ownership of the publishing business.

Confusing as it was, it was a good time to be a photographer and a learning writer/photojournalist.

From what I remember from back in the day..... I had not seen "panel striped rods" until I was at Mickey Thompson's first car show at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. The San Diego Prowlers had a club display with about a dozen (?) cars, and each one had panel stripes on them. What an impression. After that show, panel striping started showing up in the L.A. area. Still looks cool.
