painting your motor?? Can you do it with single stage?

    Looking to paint my motor soon and seen some guys paint there blocks same color as there car. Will that paint hold up to the heat??? Give me some good feedback on what to do and if you know of any other paints that are good. Thanks!!!!!

    Yes it will. Many threads on here covering the subject, Chopolds did a really nice tech on it not too long ago. Search his posts to find it. The key is keeping the film build down, only putting on the minimal amount of coats to cover.

    IMO, any good catalyzed, urethane, etc. paint for an engine works well.

    Good prep + thin coats = a very durable finish.

    I started painting engines with Catylized Enamal back in the mid 80s, always worked well.

    the engines i have painted i just cleaned the grease and dirt off and used plasti-coat engine enamel, the tin covers i sand smooth before painting, they have lasted for years.

    I use high heat primer in a rattle can, then single stage urethane in whatever color you want. Always works for me.
