I want to paint this oil pan Engine Enamel Orange but was told by someone that the gold iridite finish needs to be sanded or bead blasted down to bare steel for the paint to stick. Anyone have experience with that? [IMG]

  2. I think you should be good to go.

Bare steel requires some sort of treatment before paint can be applied, in your case it is already done.

    Clean well and paint.
The dichromate is a good primer in itself.
