Painting Duece Grille

Ok, heres the the deal. I want to paint my Duece grille. What preperation is required to do it correctly? Etch primer? Sand blasting?

 

The bars are way too delicate for sandblasting; they would warp instantly.

If no rust? I would strip the paint by hand.

 

ive painted many 32 grill inserts by just cleaning good, use a scotch pad lightly down the bars,and spray bomb........never had a problem
