I fabricated and painted this grille insert. My question is do you think it would be better to have the the outer perimeter flange painted black as the grille shell is and have just the bars painted white thus giving the apearansce that the insert is narrower ?

I'd paint the outer edge gloss black to separate it a little from the rest of the car.

When it comes to colors white always pops out like a sore thumb, while dark colors reseed and give a more subtle look. I would paint the grille lip semi-gloss black and the teeth flat black. The black look will look good with any color you paint the car. :D Good luck with your build.

Firstly great job on the insert.

If you like the white you might consider painting it more of a matt cream to blend a little better.

Also the suggestion of painting the edge gloss back would look good.
