not that anyone cares but my paint work is done. ace hardware aluminum paint as a base w/ sunbeam metalflake silver as a top coat w/ sunbeam black metalflake scallops. not bad for $60 bucks in paint. i just need to pinstripe the scallops in red. she should go on the frame tomorrow for the last time.
ha thats funny. The Dingbat was sold off to become a street rod... the guy recently sent me pics. The Litter Box will be out next year R.I.P Dingbat 2004-2006
just got the body on the frame for the last time... she's bolted down for good. figured i'd update everyone even the dog is happy i'm almost done.
That is just awsome! I have a 26T Roadster that I am going to hot rod as soon as I finish my truck. I love the way that looks with those scallops
yeah, i can't take all the credit for it, jim sipley a fellow hamber was the one who laid out the scallops when it was a different color... i just went from pictures to try and dupe it in this color scheme. i bought just the body from him and kinda went off this pic as a frame of reference.
btw this car was built out of a small shed... i have no garage. i made such a mistake buying a house w/ no garage. boo hoo, woe is me. next weekend the cris craft windshield i got off that auction site.
very cool... the spring before axle setup is very different.. i hope this one has shocks! Also, what are you doing for a windshield?
That paintjobs finished?? Im not trying to start shit but it looks really patchy...got any close up shots?
i agree with Nekro. it does look splotchy.... did you rattle can it? it also looks like theres over spray on the scallops? also, why not clear coat it? they sell cans of rusto color and clear. spray it out of a cheap spray gun with some acitone. comes out great.
yeah, i noticed a little overspray, figured i'd wait for the paint to be completely dry or set or what ever you call it before i decided to tape it up and touch up those spots. i think the reason the paint looks the way it does is because it has a slight texture to it. it is that metalflake paint from seymour called sunbeam. it looks alot better in the sun and yes i did clear it. seymour strongly suggests to do so w/ this paint. here is a shot of the trunk in the sun.
yeah, you're right northbay shoebox... i should have bought an official rockabilly 1950 ford and sprayed flames on it with some red wheels.
i seem to be noticing a trend... i like the hamb, but it seems the biggest sh-t talkers are the guys who don't do anything but go on the hamb, while the guys who give the most encouragement are the guys who build some serious cars. thanx to all for your encouragement.
