1. Deep pockets are a must!!! Packard parts don't come cheap. 2. Do NOT under any circumstances toss out the 327 straight 8 and replace it with a SBC. Some fool stuck an LT something into a '49 convertible here in Minnesota, and then had the balls to put $105,000 sticker on it. Ruined an otherwise beautiful car. Long story short - Keep the big 8. 3. Max Merritt and Kanter are arguably the best sources for parts. http://www.maxmerrittauto.com/ http://www.kanter.com/ Good luck and keep us posted.
I am currently building my 54 clipper deluxe sportster. And yes, parts aren't cheap and if you have the straight 8, keep it.
Something like this? ...And then keep everybody awake at night in da Amsterdam neighbourhoods!!! Gompies rule!! Groeten
Sold one of those last year. I saved it from going to hell, ang got it running after sitting for over 20 years. I thought it was a well built car, but as I found out not a very desirable car.
