Re: Dragfest 2012 DRAGFEST Invitational 2012 is the concoction of Ray Felger and myself. I wanted to showcase the track with an expanded version of the Labor Day weekend event last year. So with a lot of planning, and countless hours on the phone, we have this event: July 7th with FREE overnight camping, and some overflow activities on July 8th. There will be 25 plus "Big Cars" (AA/FD, AA/DA, AA/GD, A/FD, AA/FA, AA/A) 8 Plus Funnies (AA/FC, A/FC, BB/FC) 4 Matchrace A/FX cars 2(hopefully 4 soon) matchrace AA/GS cars Numerous Cackle Cars ... including an original Jungle Jim car, and Chrisman's Comet(s) '64&'67 Local and National racing legends A field of "B" or "NE2" or "open wheeled Comp cars" (Dragsters, Altereds) Rod and Custom cars Live Music Pin Up contest Etc.,etc.,etc.!!! We are doing it invitation only (as far as participants go) because we physically do not have enough room ... so if you would like to run/display/cackle ... please contact myself or Ray This is designed to be just an all out FUN event with no stress or drama ... just an opportunity to come out to a true vintage 1969 Dragstrip, that still flies a sanction banner (IHRA), and enjoy some heads up competition with some cash and prizes ( for instance, we will have some drums of fuel to run for). We've got over 45 competition cars committed to coming so far, and I can entertain about another 20 ... So space is limited/and time is of the essence!!! AND DETAILS ARE STILL BEING WORKED OUT AND ADDED WEEKLY!!! Rich Wilcox [email protected] 207-689-5201
Best to call or email Rich Willcox in post #1 Dave50. Thats about a 3 hour ride for you with no traffic in case you have not been there before. Yesterday 495 at the junction with 95 was creap and crawl only at 1 pm. Another big traffic delay is when going up over the 95 bridge into Maine. Figure on an early start and at least a couple extra hours,
I been there before I figured it would take alot longer if i went rte 1 and hopped around the alternate routes but maybe i just better trailer... Slim If i go i will make it a point to stop over and say hello, I am thinking maybe staying over up there cabins or BB etc I gota keep Jake together for the downeast run too
My timing sucks. I was just up there last weekend for my nephews graduation. Got another family reunion this coming weekend in R.I. For those who are inclined, they just opened the first casino in Maine right down the street from Oxford Raceway.
Guys, Do I have to call Doug Jonas just to find this place? Mebbie it's near Mechanics Falls? Halfway between Paris, Naples and ...Norway? "Come to think of it... you can't get..." Seems I recall passing by a track somewhere up there years ago. Looks like there's an airport runway, just above Rte 26, maybe that's the strip?
pitman its right at the oval track in Oxford not far at all frm McFalls. Dave You may see Pat there. I'm hope'n to make the Downeaast event
