Well that was a fun half hour scrolling though the (right now) 4 pages of photos, stories and comments on the car.
I'm thinking that there was at least one photo in the Coverage of the GNRS in Hotrod or another magazine. I was sitting in Vietnam in 68 but my mom stuck my Hot Rod magazine in the care package when it came in the male and Those issues were well read by myself and my buddies.
Then in 70 I remember reading that road trip to Peoria story and in 73 I saw some of that bunch in Tulsa at the NSRA nationals.
Great memories of the stories around that car and I wish I was able to head down to GNRS in a few weeks.

  3. The '23 GNRS is less than 3 weeks away ... so Darryl @hollenbeck32 spent his Friday night at home bringing the vintage GOODYEAR Blue Streaks back to life:

  5. What a great story and history lesson!
The Instant T’s were at the top of the t bucket culture back then and were just dream stuff to us mortals back East.
    Thank you for sharing this!

That thing is still dream stuff to us mere mortals. Beautiful.

    What a cream puff.....

  9. I just received an email advertisement for GNRS starting two weeks from today. The ad featured several cars that will be on display, including:

    LEASEMOBILE
    [IMG]

One of Andy Brizio's original Instant Ts "LEASEMOBILE," a '23 Ford T roadster pickup built on the stage at the 1968 Oakland Roadster show by Andy and crew.
Thanks to 2016 AMBR award-winners Darryl Hollenbeck of Vintage Color Studio & wife Terri Hollenbeck, the T bucket has been restored to its 1970 form when owner Lance Miller and Andy drove to the 1st Street Rod Nationals in Peoria, IL.

  10. By "blower intake", I assume you meant the scoop used on many of the ANDY'S Instant T's in the late '60s & '70s:

    1970 AMBR.jpg Miles Foster's EXPRESSION @ '70 Oakland Roadster Show.jpg The Candyman.jpg
. . . or did you actually mean the CRAGAR blower intake manifold:

    CRAGAR Blower.jpeg

. . . originally used on the subject of this thread (i.e., Lance Miller's LEASEMOBILE Instant T) ???

  11. I believe Andy had 4-71 blower manifolds cast based on the original Cragar 4-71 manifold. But this "T" runs a 6-71. The same molds were also used by Cub Barnett. I have photos somewhere but not handy right now.

  13. More vintage photos of the Leasemobile's journey to/from the 1970 Nats:

Looks like the radiator had some problems and they had to take it out and tow it, pretty cool. And the fact that it was driven pretty far is also really cool.

Thanks for the pics. Got to see some pics of Andys' VolksRod I hadn't seen before. 2nd to last pic showing the VolksRod getting ready to tow the Leasemobile w/the rad already out? Andy's InstantT's were the best proportioned - esp w.a blower on(other than the slightly funky headlight placement), whether they were running his fenders or not.

It's amazing how well preserved the paint job is.
I assume when it is on display at the GNRS everyone will be wearing white stroker caps. :)

  17. Actually ... Don Specht's (full-fendered, blue with white top) T Roadster towed the Leasemobile (see post #20).

Thanks. I was wondering just where they'd hook-up to the VR?

  23. Today, 90-year-old Andy Brizio and his youngest daughter Terri @Born a HotRodGal Hollenbeck paid the Leasemobile a visit before it heads south for the GNRS:
