I saw that Herman Hot Rod had been posted. A TV show that played every episode at our house was Life Of Riley. Typical American household in the mid 50's...........But.....there was one episode specifically that stuck out in my mind
Great little episode. However, when the car was returned was it a'32? Looks to my glassless eyes to be an A... not talking about the grille surround.
Teenage Rebel This roadster was my Uncles car. It was raced at San Fernando drag strip and at El Mirage. Originally...without the "Dodie 77". This is in reference to the girl character (her name) in the movie. It also didn't have the blower on it for the movie. Note, this car is in a thread somewhere in the HAMB in its current restored condition. This is only washed, after we took it out of an airplane hangar near Sacramento CA. Mike P.s. - Sorry, the movies, not TV. It may have made it to TV after the movie.
A little Hollywood license, it too was a stellar Hotrod...that may have been the Hotrod Friend of Wally Parks whose wife raced it quite successfully...cleaning up house for a while... I also got a kick of The Young Hoodlum getting into the Jim Griepsma 34 smacking the door into the Roadster in the driveway as they're taking off... ...This was a Husband/Wife racing Team...and very successful as well can't recall their names but they are well known in those circles...I'm thinking it was the one you are mentioning...real clean machine...and free of Door Smacks...I think... Great to see that clip. Every once in a while I slip and say someone's "living the life of Reilly", then think they probably have no idea what I'm talking about. Those old rods slay me. I can't imagine going to the first 10 or 15 years of hot rod / roadster / car shows. My first was in '64.
