I lost my left eye 48 years ago. It takes a little getting used to, but with patience, you will adjust and be able to accomplish anything you could before. My prayers are with you and if you ever want to talk about it, PM me.

Good luck. A close friend of mine had the same surgery. It is extremely rare and presents a very low probability of spreading. He had to get a glass eye too. They did such a good job (attaching muscles to it,etc.) that I would often forget which eye it was.It will take a while to adapt but thousands of people do it.
You have a great prognosis and a lot of support here.

It surprises me whenever the topic of cancer comes up, how many here on the HAMB have been there.

I lost a testicle to cancer three years ago. The diagnosis was a sobering, scary thing. I also was lucky that we caught it before it spread, I've had nothing but clean followups since. I guess the upside to it all is that it made me realize I'm not bulletproof, I'm not gonna live forever. It prompted me to reassess my priorities, and as a result I'm less inclined to sweat the stuff that doesn't warrant it. I also started making the effort to get back in touch with people I'd fallen out of touch with. I'm more appreciative of the simple pleasures in life, I think overall I'm a happier, more contented guy.
I hope your experience is the same. Best of luck with your surgery and the years ahead.
