Any HAMBers in the Houston area own Cruiser bikes (old or new)?
Come out to the Hickory Hollow (101 Heights Blvd) and ride this Sunday and every Sunday morning with around a dozen or more like minded enthusiasts.
The ride usually takes off around 9:00am (best to get there around 8:30-8:45am) and usually wraps up around 12:00.

I've known about this group for some time and only recently had time to check it out.
It's not really a 'club' with rules and all that, it's just a bunch of neat people that are into old style cruiser bikes (restored, customs, jalopies, beaters, even new 'retro' bikes) and enjoy building and riding them. Attached pics are from last weekend's cruise.
Neat stuff, some bikes go back to the '40s and '50s.
    No attitudes just fun.

Afterwards, head over to the Cruze at the Shady Tavern Ice House (starts a 2:00, so you can ditch the bike and bring your 4 wheeled ride).

    It is a blast!
I didn't know what to expect really. I initially thought that my bikes wouldn't be 'old enough' or 'restored enough', nobody seems to care about that at all.
Some of the guys will pick on each others rides 'cause somebody used a woodscrew to hold their chainguard on, stuff like that.
Most of these guys (and gals) are hilarious, it's just a lot of fun.

I know this is an old post, but I'm gonna try and go on this bike ride tomorow. I hope it's going on.

  9. I got a few cruisers, let me know what you think of that thing tomorrow.

For those interested, we're ride every Sunday (weather permitting)!

I know a lot of guys think 'Oh, bicycles' like it's gay or a bunch of pussies showing up.
Mostly it's a bunch of car guys that are into bicycles too.
It's weird how that is...actually it's just like the car scene, different clubs, swap meets and shows, etc...so the Sunday ride is like a cruise night only during the day!
So get your old bicycle 'out of the closet' and ride that thing (you'll probably live longer)!

  13. Not really, I like the old beach cruisers, but I naturally think "Ameican or British Motorcycle" when I hear "Bike", When I hear "Motorcycle", I think "Jap".

**Update** We've added an evening ride to beat the summer heat!

The evening ride meets at 1621 Milam @ Leeland (Houston Press building) on Satudays at 6:30!
Every weekend we get more and more riders and we ride about 13 miles (more or less)!!
The Sunday morning ride continues also so if you can't make it to one you can still do the other.

You can check our events page on Facebook under 'Rusty Riders'.
