Im going to be at Heavy Rebel next weekend, then its time to tear it down. I have a parts car that will donate its trunk floor, all the floor pans, Hood support, etc.

Man, you and skeeter have got to park next to each other. That will make for some great pictures.

    Awesome videos.

Don't apologize for the music in the first one. I was initially disappointed not to hear race sounds but there was something raw and emotional about hearing the music while viewing the race footage and then the barn lot shots where the car appeared to be put to rest.

    Awesome!!!

You mention the following quote "Engine was built by Schliepers speed shop". Are they the same folks know as Pro Power race engines? I think the owners name is Dan Schlieper. I see a lot of them in late models running around on the dirt tracks.

Yeah that's them. It was Dan's father back then. Ron said with the 5:30's in the rear he was hitting the traps at 7600 rpm, and that because Schliepers were doing dirt track engines then as well, they knew how to make em live at that rpm.

I think it was Mr. Ritter's nephew that found it for him, not grandson. I also found out that he never ran the 289. He sold the car around the time they were working it out. I will probably still go with the 289 because it would be hard to find a 256 and even harder to build it right.

  24. That would be John Schlieper that built it back in the day.

[IMG]ok, Got an offy 2 X 4 for the 289, but I cant figure out what carbs will fit!!! Its a dual plane so sideways is out of the question, and even my Autolites wont fit!! TOO CLOSE TOGETHER!! Any Ideas? I just am not familiar with early 4V's to know where to start

  30. I think my buddy FastEd here on the board had Carters on his 68 Cougar with dual quads. I think it was an offy intake too, try PMing him
