Black to me would look good with trim rings and caps, too much blue otherwise. Maybe a blue pinstripe on some of the black to tie it together?

It appears the car is already built. Did I say I was going to put the color on that was most popular? No.
I was asking for opinions and I've gotten some good feedback and observations. As was written in the original post, "I realize it's for me and it's mine and whatever makes me happy, so let's get past those comments and get some opinions."

The way the car sits I like them both but I would lean to black w/caps and a blue stripe on the wheel.

    Of those two colors, black.

But if you subscribe to popular picture matting color theory - that is to say, use the tertiary color as the matting, then the color you want is the maroon from the numbers. Looks good here, in my humble opinion.

  10. Opinions? OK. I don't care for either one. The blue is too much blue and the black is too much black with the blackwalls. If you went with whitewalls I would say go with the black. The blue is just too distracting to me unless you had all blue car. Or ran black fenders then the blue wheels wouldn't be so bold. My 2¢.

    I vote Black.

To me (and just an opinion) the blue wheels somehow look like a new car attempting to look period. Where to me the black wheels make the car seem like IS a period piece.

Either way it looks like a damn nice car.

Had a chance to think about this today, further than just some quick reply thoughts. My thoughts echo what was mentioned above. Add trim rings and caps to the black wheels with blackwall tires and I think it's a real winning combo. I think the blue looks like you're trying too hard to get something more from it, and in fact something it doesn't need.

Have seen this done. - Most people don't notice until it is pointed out to them.
In time this will help you (OP) make up your mind ! ............. ( maybe ).

I voted black, and they need caps, although I wouldn't use trim rings personally. I think the blue would work better if they were whitewalls. The blue pinstripe on the black wheels is an interesting suggestion, I'd like to see that in a photoshop.
