I have 2" x 4" x .120" wall frame rails on a chassis that I am building. In the past I have used urethane body mounts and garden variety outriggers to mount a body to the frame. However, this time I would like something that is less cumbersome. I also would like to keep from doing any type of permanent threads put into or welded onto the frame rails themselves. Just to clarify the rails are complete rectangular tube. Can I please get opinions on the simplest, cleanest way you like to do get this done? Pictures would be nice if you can get to them easily. I did a general search on this, but have to admit I did not spend a long time pouring over old threads when I didn't initially see what I was looking for. Thanks John
I hole sawed mine and made threaded bungs to weld in. That is the best and most stable option in my opinion.
Ford used some kind of L-shaped brackets under the cowl on a Model A. You could probably cut up leftover pieces of tube to make your own and weld them to the rails inside or out.
I think I am going to try these: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Universal-Expanding-Body-Mounts,27868.html
