Yeah this guy will. It's one of his.http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/member.php?u=33426

    Isn't that a Pontiac?

  5. Sorry, but that index and record for SS/X was in the mid to high 14's in the early 70's.
It might have run 13.20's, but not as a legal NHRA Super Stocker.

Hey Mark, you may be right, but somewhere around here I have 2 timeslips for their car from the 72 world finals at Amarillo that were a mid and high 13,I think, but Amarillo is a fairly high altitude track.
They were still in the glove box of the car hauler when I bought it.
If I can locate 'em I'll scan and post 'em.
I hid 'em from myself on a cleaning binge a few weeks ago.LOL
That was pretty much the end for this car as the indexes changed and the weight breaks were not really user friendly for the Olds anymore.

  7. I was there, and saw the car. Always thought it was cool.
We set the SS/KA MPH record in qualifying.

raced in the detroit area at Mt. clemmens speedway and Flat rock speedway,,,many wins,,

used the light weight olds 350 block 1976 and newer ( the one with the windows in the mains) with # 7 heads milled over .085

I raced the same engine for decades never blew up.

they would measure the engine set back from the fire wall to the air cleaner stud,,,
so i just move the body BACK 4 inches on the frame, moved the engine back 4 inches and scalloped out the wheel wells...

i would buy about 2 -3 off these cars a year for the body parts,,,paid about $50 for each,,, i cut up over dozen cars.

This pictures are GREAT! Thanks so much for sharing all these. I grew up an Olds guy, because my dad was an olds guy, and so was my grandpa. So many people outside the true car guys don't understand that there is something other than a Chevelle, Camaro, or Nova.

    Cheers...

Wow! This is really cool! Was born and raised in Lansing, MI. First OHV engine I ever built was a 303 CID V-8 from my 1950 Olds college car in '55. Actually worked the 1960-61 model changeover at Olds Plant 3 for exactly 89 days, then got laid-off; happened every year. Knew the Air Lift folks from the early 60's, both Dick Griffin and Al Seger were friends. Lotsa memories here folks, thank you!
